Back to It
A new arrival, a new Walk-and-Talk, and something coming on October 7
|
A Note from Gitanjali
September has always felt a little like a second January to me. Summer is ending, people are coming back, calendars suddenly start filling up again, and all those things we happily postponed until "after the summer" begin demanding our attention. This year, that feeling is particularly strong because there is rather a lot happening in the NegotiateHer world.
Let me start with the happiest news. If you read the August newsletter, you will know that Apa was taking a break from the podcast because she was expecting a baby. I am very happy to tell you that the newest and smallest member of the NegotiateHer family has now arrived, and everyone is doing well.
A new arrival in the NegotiateHer family

It feels particularly special after some of the conversations Apa and I have had over the past year about motherhood, careers, money, ambition, and the choices women make at different stages of their lives. For now, Apa is exactly where she should be, enjoying this new chapter with her family, and the podcast will remain on pause for a little while longer.

The Fall Walk-and-Talk Is Back
I am very happy to announce that the NegotiateHer Walk-and-Talk is back again this fall, after a successful one in Spring.
The idea behind Walk-and-Talk has always been deliberately simple. We meet, we walk, and we talk about the things we are actually navigating in our careers and workplaces. There are no slides to sit through, no formal panel discussion, and no forced networking. Instead, we create the space to have proper conversations about whatever people bring with them on the day.
At previous ones, I have watched people arrive knowing nobody and leave having had conversations they would probably never have had at a traditional networking event. If you have never joined a Walk-and-Talk, this is your invitation to try it. Come as you are, bring whatever is currently occupying your mind, and let us see where the conversation takes us.

#OpenDoorInnovation
One of the other things I was very happy to return to after the summer was #OpenDoorInnovation. It has always been about bringing together people who might not normally find themselves in the same conversation, then creating enough openness for them to exchange ideas, challenge assumptions, and learn from one another.

Our latest event was another reminder of how much good thinking happens when people with different experiences and perspectives have the opportunity to meet without needing to arrive with all the answers.

Quiet Power Launches October 7
And now for the thing I have been quietly working on for a very long time.
My book, Quiet Power, will officially launch on October 7, on my brother's birthday! When I first started writing, I wanted to launch on my birthday, earlier in the year. And now it will be on his. Why not!
I am deliberately not going to tell you too much about it in this newsletter because October will be the moment when I finally get to share the book properly. I will introduce you to some of the people whose stories appear in it, and explain what I hope you will take away from reading it.
What I can tell you is that we are beginning to plan some rather nice things around the launch. There will be events in both Zurich and Frankfurt, and we are working with bookshops on readings where we can actually meet, talk about some of the ideas in the book, and hopefully have a little fun with it as well.
|
In the meantime, there is one thing I would really like you to do. You can already sign up to receive a free chapter of Quiet Power before the book launches.
|
It will give you the first proper glimpse of what I have been working on and, I hope, leave you wanting to read a little more on October 7.

Closing Reflection
There is something about September that makes everything feel as though it is beginning again. This year that feeling is particularly strong for me because several things I care about are moving into new chapters at exactly the same time. Apa is beginning another new chapter, the Walk-and-Talk is bringing people together again, and something that has existed on my laptop for a very long time is finally about to become a real book.
For now, though, I am trying not to rush ahead. There is a Walk-and-Talk to enjoy, conversations to have, people to reconnect with, and a few more weeks before October 7 arrives.
|
October's newsletter will be a rather different one.
I finally get to tell you properly about the book.
